书接上回，孟达练完球后回家，告诉孟发和江心自己要去参加科技比赛的事，两人对视一眼，说：“那好呀，达达你也要注意，不要太累了哟，孟达点点头，说：“放心吧，我会自己注意的。”孟发和江心点点头，表示并不担心，毕竟孟达什么样，他们是了解的，这件事孟达肯定是考虑过的，自然不需要他们担心。
孟达放下书包后，走到电脑前，开始搜索有关科技的知识和相关书籍，并打算去图书馆借几本书来看一看。孟达一看就是几个小时，一直到孟发叫他吃饭他这才离开电脑。吃完饭后，又是看电脑的几个小时，最后停下来还是因为看到文章说不能长时间盯着电脑屏幕这才休息下来。
第二天一早，孟达就去了李鸣老师的办公室，等他来部署任务并准备让他来带自己去图书馆学习，结果看到他工位上有一本书，上面写着科学竞赛四个大字，孟达当即拿起来，爱不释手地读了起来。
